KISS ME!: HOW TO RAISE YOUR CHILDREN WITH LOVE
By Carlos Gonzalez
This is a book that represents the Children. With so much conflicting advice in so many parenting books, this book says 'this is what babies need for their survival, this is what they require to be happy, secure and healthy'. The book says it is OK to love your child and hold them, and to meet their needs without fear of creating a spoilt child. It asks the questions: do you see children as innately good, loving and innocent, needing love and nurturing to grow into wonderful humans? Or are they selfish, manipulating and hostile, needing strict discipline to become a decent adult? Carlos explains very clearly why children do what they do for their survival, and that these things have been done for thousands of years (eg. In caveman days, baby would wake several times in the night to check that Mum was still there and hadn't left them behind. If Mum wasn't there, baby cried out to her, but if she didn't come there was no point continuing to cry because, to survive, the baby was better off staying quiet!). I really enjoyed the first half of the book and couldn't stop talking about, and if I'm really honest I found the later parts of the book probably a bit harsh if you disagree with his ideas. I think that for parents afraid of doing the wrong thing or that what they are doing doesn't feel right to them, this is a great book to get your hands on!
